Sunday was my first time autocrossing a FWD car, after years of driving the RX-8. The Fiesta is an awesome slalom car, but it was pretty unhappy in the 3 digs. I assume more negative front camber and a nicer suspension setup would help that problem. This course was pretty tight, so I'm excited to see what it can do on a more sweeper-oriented course.

I ran STX just to see how the car would compete against the cars I usually go up against in the RX-8. I was pretty happy with the result!

Nice to see someone properly classifying their cambers.

I love the setup as-is on the car for autocross, but then again I found great success with it. I agree it does awesome on the sweepers but I loved tighter tracks too. I found that by braking a little more than you need and sacrificing some entry for exit, the car seems to do it better. It pushes a bit at the limit like a FWD car (unless you try to slam the brakes and turn in which case it has no tolerance of your idiocy and just spins) but if you can go in just a touch slower, let the car rotate and get on the throttle a little earlier, you can be in your torque band for a fast exit.

The Fiesta really rewards momentum driving. Braking in a straight line then compensating with the throttle through the corner usually yields me my best results. The car is seriously a monster stock, I don't think there's any need to spend money on upgrades. I beat all of the unmodified cars at my last event, including S2000s and Elises.
